Guess what movie came out today! I'm sure you're completely at a loss. Not like I've mentioned it in the subject heading.

And do I dream again?
For now I find
The Phantom of the Opera is here
Inside my mind!

For the first time in my life, I understand the impulse to do a huge, gushing posting entirely in capital letters, with no punctuation except random clusters of exclamation points. That about captures my emotions upon seeing this movie. For the sake of the sanity of my readers, I'll refrain.

Suffice to say, this is an excellent adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical; I love the arrangements Webber's done for the movie (making use of the full orchestra, adapting some pieces to background music), and I also adore the fact that for once, I'm rooting for Raoul to some extent, rather than wishing him locked in a little room for all eternity. Ordinarily, it drives me up the wall that his lines consist of "Christine, I love you" or "I love her! Does that mean nothing? I love her!", but seeing his character given some more scope in nonverbal ways... that really, really helped. The long, feminine hair did not. I have to sympathize with my sister's reaction: "I just kept wishing in that duel with the Phantom that the Phantom would do us all a favor and slice Raoul's hair off."

I strongly desire to ramble some more, but I'll leave off with an imperative:

SEE THIS FILM.

Thank you, that'll be all. :)
