I noticed that it's been a while since I've had an actual update, so I figure I owe my (not so?) dedicated readers a real entry.
I haven't written in a while, so you probably don't know that I am no longer the only employee at my shop. No, I have now been joined by the cute and charming Zach, who unfortunately already has a girlfriend. Still, it's really nice to have the workload relieved a bit, and nice too to have someone to talk to other than my bosses, who are about my parents' age.
Last weekend was spent in the mountains, enjoying a gorgeous, gorgeous late summer day (why doesn't autumn start in mid September here like it does up north? I feel cheated). The temperature started out downright chilly and didn't top 80 all day, sunny, a nice breeze... perfect weather for a hike after an overnight in a mountain cabin. My friend Jen and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves while my sister and parents checked out colleges.
This weekend looks to be spent car shopping (oh joy of joys), but also sleeping, which is nice because this week has been very busy. Stupidly, I agreed to take a part in a small drama at church the very week my team is taking its first turn leading worship -
and we have a new song to learn. (It's called "Holy", like fifty other P&W songs, so that probably tells you nothing.) Fortunately, it's not too hard, and I have managed to sing it about fifty times without wanting to kill something. However, if forced to sing "If We Are The Body" any more times, I may go back on that. Wretched song. Wretched, tuneless, badly-phrased song. And what's terrible is that it points out a very real problem in the church - complacency, smugness - a problem I would love to see pointed out more often, but it's done so badly... ah, well, c'est la vie.
Been reading Terry Pratchett addictively, and now I think I need a break. Soon as my sis lends me
Soul Music. Soon as I finish
Thief of Time. Oh, and any others that may happen my way. Man, it's been forever since I found a large series I like, I'd forgotten how I react. (I will now admit that my old long series were along the lines of Babysitters' Club and Animorphs and Sweet Valley. Those familiar with such series will see how my shock is increased by the quality of Pratchett.) Perhaps I should reread LOTR as a break.
This has been My Recent Life In Brief. I may be writing on
http://briervineyard.blogspot.com some more in the near future; I've really missed writing, now that school is no longer forcing me to write stuff. Surprise.
