Who'd've thunk I'd miss school? (Okay, just about anyone who knows me well could predict that, but still.) I'm hearing about all my friends going back, taking classes, starting college life again, and I'm wishing so badly that I were there. DEFINITELY gonna have to give grad school some thought, since there just aren't enough years in an undergrad's life. Will have to attempt to console self with prospect of London (15 days, 10 hours, 34 minutes til arrival, but who's counting?).

In the meantime, I've moved from stuffing envelopes to filling files and writing out labels for them, which wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that there are 800+ files to be labeled, not including the hanging folders they're going in.

But on the plus side...

...when I was a kid I saw this ancient movie starring Hayley Mills called "In Search of the Castaways" which I loved. Saw it maybe twice in one weekend and never again, but I loved it. Still remember the coolest song in the movie, "Enjoy It", wherein a bizarre Frenchman tries to persuade everyone of the good points of being stuck in a tree in the middle of Argentina because a tsunami has flooded the entire plain (yes, the whole movie is filled with such wonderfully logical events). So much fun. So I was thrilled when I heard it would be on the Hallmark channel a couple weeks ago.

Missed it.

But it's on again on Friday!!!!! I shall not fail this time. I shall capture the elusive film on tape and have it for my very own. This gets me through my work week.

Frenchman:"Why cry about bad weather,
Enzhoy eet!
Each moment eez a treazhure.
Enzhoy't!
We'ah trav'lers on life's highway,
Enzhoy the trip!
Each lovely twist and byway,
Each bump ond dip.
If zere's a compleecation,
Enzhoy't!
You've got eemageenation,
Employ't!
Zen you'll see roses in ze snow,
Joi de vivre will make them grow
Voila! That's life! Enzhoy eet!
Lade da da da dya da, enzhoy eet
La eeya eeda eeya, en-zhoy eet!
A hurry-cane comes your way.
Enzhoy the breeze!
You're stranded in de jungle? Brro!
Enzhoy the trees!
If zere's a compleecation,
Enzhoy't!
You've got eemageenation,
Employ't!
Thees world's a corn-yu-copia,
Why it could be --"
(Hayley Mills)
"--Utopia?"
(Fr.)
"Voila! Zat's right! Enzhoy eet!"
(HM)
"Why cry about bad weather, enjoy it"
(Fr.)
"No no no, enzhoy eet."
(HM)
"Oh. Each moment is a treasure, en-zhoy eet"
(Fr.)
"Zat's better. Enzhoy eet!"
(HM)
"We're trav'lers on life's highway, enzhoy the treep"
(Fr. laughs)
"Each lovely tweest and byway, each bump and deep"
(Fr.)
"Good!"
(Both)If there's a complication,
Enzhoy eet!
(Fr. echoes: "Enzhoy't!", then both)
You've got eemagination,
Employ eet!
(Fr: "Employ eet!")
(Both)
Then you'll see roses in the snow,
Joi de vivre will make them grow
Voila! That's life! Enzhoooooooyyyyyyy eet!

I'm thinking two years of teaching and then Grad School. Pay off undergrad debt and get some money saved for Grad expenses.

Now, that is a really obscure Disney movie. Never heard of it. For me, Hayley Mills will always be the teacher from the first season of Saved by the Bell.

Kir, thanks for the song. I really needed it tonight.
