My Boyfriend's Back!
Jan. 21st, 2005 02:39 pm...okay, not really, I don't have a boyfriend, haven't in years - but I'm listening to that song. :) Puts me in a good mood. (hey-la, hey-la, my boyfriend's back!)
I'm looking at a cozy afternoon to myself, which is nice, as long as I don't think about the reading I really ought to be doing. I really, really, really hope it snows tomorrow, or tonight... sometime this weekend! It's below freezing and cloudy (if by "cloudy" you understand me to mean "wow, someone took a bunch of gray paint and smoothed it over the sky"). At least it's that pretty, silvery color that clouds get when they're full of nice snowy stuff, and not the stupid white-gray which makes you wonder whether the sun hasn't just bleached itself into black-and-white. Although I'm also fond of the menacing charcoal-colored storm clouds, or best of all, textured grays of all shades in truly wild weather.
Me? Weather obsessive? Not in the least.
And my WinAmp has switched over to "Painting Pictures of Egypt" by Sara Groves, which is not nearly so cheerful; it more nearly fits my feelings while approaching graduation:
I've been painting pictures of Egypt
Leaving out what it lacks
The future feels so hard, and I wanna go back
But the places that used to fit me
Cannot hold the things I've learned
And those roads were closed off to me
While my back was turned.
Pretty, though, and a pleasant enough melancholy, fitting the weather.
Hee. And now over to "Purple People Eater." Memories of Golden Oldies Jukebox... my sisters and I, or my best friend and I, singing and dancing and demonstrating the "playing rock'n'roll music through the horn in his head". Same place I learned "My Boyfriend's Back," come to think of it. I like short shorts!
Should I admit what's next? That "Love Makes the World Go Round", as sung by the PowerPuff Girls Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup, is actually on my collection? Why not, it's a fun, bouncy song. :) You cannot hurt me with the things that you do, I'll pick up dand-e-lions and I'll give them to you!
Oh. I'm rambling. Hmm. Okay, I'll leave it on "All-Star" (hee!) unless something really cool comes up again. Onward to other topics.
I've lost my train of thought a bit, but that's okay. It's a stream-of-consciousness kind of day, or a poetry day, and I don't claim to be a good enough poet for it to be worth the effort to try to switch gears. That made no sense. That's also okay. I don't have to think lucidly for a little while.
So, with "Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer" playing on my Winamp, telling the adventures of the "knockabout clowns, quick-change comedians, tightrope walkers and acrobats", I shall go to continue rambling in my diary. And have a nice cup of tea, then maybe read a bit of Donne. I love my life.
