Reckless abandon
Jun. 5th, 2005 07:49 pmI've been turning over a few thoughts that I mean to post in my public blog sometime (yes, I'm aware that I haven't posted there in over a month), but first I'm gonna have to condense. I've noticed my entries are getting a leetle long for the average blog. But LJ... *rubs hands together eagerly* I can get as long as I like there. And besides, I figure that I don't exactly have a following for my blog yet outside of people who read my LJ anyway.
But first, my day. As many of you know, I began today as a harlot. And a thief. And twas fun. Our church put on a production of the story of the Prodigal Son, and I'm afraid I, er, "helped" the Prodigal go from well-off to broke in the city. But it all went toward teaching him a valuable lesson, and I'm sure he's the better for it. Email me for my pic of me in costume. ;) (I got to wear basically a belly-dancer costume.)
This afternoon was spent distractedly reading the book Revenge of the Sith (thank you, Liz!!). I was distracted by wanting to give Anakin and Obi-Wan a hug, and envisioning somevery Mary-Sue-ish, utterly unworthy of publication fanfic scenarios to let them see how everything will end up all right in the end. Halfway through now. Let's see how long the rest takes.
Tonight's church service was awesome. I'm not sure how much of it was due to the fun worship time. This morning was a rare service, with drama and with only one contemporary song among the handful of hymns, and I loved singing them - but tonight was for energy and a good drumbeat, which meant contemporary. :) And mostly my favorites. The message was great, about abiding in Christ, and much needed - I've been wandering quite a bit of late. Communion... and then "Days of Elijah," one of my all-time favorite worship songs. I was almost in tears by the end of the first verse:
These are the days of Elijah
Declaring the word of the Lord.
And these are the days of your servant, Moses,
Righteousness being restored.
And though these are days of great trials,
Of famine and darkness and sword,
Still we are the voice in the desert crying:
Prepare ye the way of the Lord!
I've been struggling with my purpose lately (I'm SURE graduating and being at loose ends has NOTHING to do with that) and I'd been praying during the service that God would bring me back into His service, and show me what to do. And here I'm reminded: Stick to the Word. Don't worry that you've been straying, righteousness will be restored. And don't worry if things get messy - there's a point! But still... note to self: Do not cry during loud, upbeat song in a tricky range. It ruins the fun of singing along, because it becomes all work to do so. 'Least I was able to dance along. :)
And now, time to talk about why I really wanted to post tonight... at least, when I come back and edit in my Long Post, because I'm hyper and therefore particularly distractable right now.
EDIT: Okay, here they are.
